We built a small observatory when we lived in Georgia. It was basically a shed with a dome on top. We kept the dome when we moved to Alabama and have been dragging it around for 10 years+. Now it is time to build a new one before retirement means we have no money to do it. This time we intend to make a very nice buiilding and the observatory can do double duty as a guest place. We only image these days and we do almost everything remotely. That means we will not go into the observatory often so we might as well get double duty out of it. The scope will be higher than normal and that should leave plenty of room for a murphy bed. Yes we intend to put a bathroom in it. Below are pics of the build as we go along.
Pages will not view correctly on cell phone browsers. I will probably fix that later.

1000 pounds of concrete and rebar for a deadman plus 500 lbs in the pier set 6 feet down.
Floor joists going down.
The building is on deck blocks and the floor will not touch the pier. That keeps vibrations down to the scopes when you walk around.
Kaspir had to dig a hole to get the plumbing under and Tyger got to drive the dirt away.
I get to inspect while Niko cuts.
